Megalosaurus –
The first word that comes to mind when seeing this figure is “Nessie”. Overall sculpt is standard, not in the detail level that other Papo figures has. The skin is no scaly, but crossed by a lot of lines that do not give the impression of scales. It has some bumps, maybe parasites or just skin protuberances. The most remarkable details can be seen in the head of the model.
Colors are nothing exciting but suitable for marine predator. Paintwork is simple but well done, except for the teeth, they aren’t well painted. There’s no articulated jaw this time.
Many collectors hesitate to buy it because its swan neck and diamond tail.
The conclusion: This is a nice toy, but not in the usual quality standards of Papo. For Nessie lovers it is a must buy.
Mike Fredericks (Prehistoric Times) –
Papo stays true to their commitment to excellence with this beautifully detailed figure. The Plesiosaurus sports a rather typical camouflage, an unorthodox widened tail (for faster swimming perhaps?) and a swan-like neck, which is controversial as many palaeontologists doubt whether Plesiosaurs could bend their necks as much. However, this model is a must for any collection.
